The group was formed in 1975 as "Lower Mountains Repertory Theatre".
The group's first production was "The Drunkard", first performed on 4th July 1975. In the early years the theatre was renowned for its annual melodramas which were both energetic and entertaining, with significant amounts of audience participation. These productions toured local clubs and provided much needed funding for the fledgling company. In addition the company staged comedies and farces, all accompanied by theatre restaurant or buffet style catering.
Since 1975 the Group has performed 79 shows and a
list of these
can be viewed from here or from the "History" tab in the left-hand menu bar.
During the nineties, the change in times also saw a change in the style and type of productions staged by the company. The emphasis was, and still is, on quality and professionalism.
In 1999 the Company changed its name and became an Incorporated body under the Associations Incorporation Act.
We took on the name of Glenbrook Players Inc. and have been performing under this banner since then.
The company is an ensemble group with every member an important cog in the theatrical wheel. The organisation also has a significant social element which builds friendships and teamwork within the group.
We are now into the second decade of the twenty-first century and we continue our search for the best in professionalism and entertainment. To this end we always need and welcome new members to carry on our established traditions.
