This is a complete change of pace for Glenbrook Players as we present a cult classic by the best selling comedy fantasy author in the world, Terry Pratchett's "Wyrd Sisters". Teeming with wonderful characters, ghosts, demons, wicked usurpers, actors and, of course, the three "wyrd sisters" of the title, three very unusual witches. Tipping its hat at two well-known plays by William Shakespeare the plot has elements of both Hamlet and Macbeth but is much funnier than either of those classics.
These Wyrd Sisters are not the evil hags who were the ruin of Macbeth. Granny Weatherwax, opinionated, bossy and practitioner of practical magic, Nanny Ogg, earthy, cheerful and embarrassingly able to find a double entendre in any sentence and Magrat Garlick, a new age witch addicted to occult jewellery, folk songs and herbology take a hand in the affairs of the little kingdom of Lancre following a palace coup.
This show was a significant success - artistically it was well-directed and well-presented and financially it showed a very good return for the effort.
This was in no little way due to the hordes of Terry Pratchett fans who crawled out of the woodwork to enhance our patronage.
These Discworld experts and our regular patrons had a most enjoyable time for each of the performances.
